In 2011 we started looking for a Leadership and Management Training Course for our senior team and were recommended to see what Scott White Training could provide us with.

Following a fantastic taster training session where Scott allowed us to watch him in action, listen to what NLP was all about and gain a feel for how he could give us the NLP techniques to enhance our Leadership and Management Skills.

Linear Recruitment Ltd committed to his NLP Leadership & Management Skills 5 day course in 2013.

Sixteen senior staff at Linear Recruitment, from Principal Consultant’s right through to Directors attended the course which involved 5 full days over a 5 month time frame.

During that time we saw and heard about many individual successes including an increase in the average number of placements per week, closing deals with clients we had previously struggled to convert and improved relations with our teams therefore seeing an increase in sales overall.

Our course assignments also challenged us to use our new skills in the workplace and resulted in a collective total additional savings, in excess of £80,000.00 from the team, through applying what we learned!

In fact we have seen a 33% increase in GP from 2012 to 2013 and identified and promoted 5 members of staff to Regional Managers to allow us to focus on our strategic development and continued expansion of the business.

I started my career at the height of the Thatcher era.

Unemployment was 3m+

So, I got some cash together and bought a knock-down price suit and went knocking on factory doors, and after around 3 weeks a kindly Production Manager who I am still in touch with to this day ‘liked my style’ (I assume he wasn’t referring to my suit) and gave me my lucky break.

I started my career pushing two buttons on a machine.

Fast forward a few years and I am Production Supervisor, responsible for two departments, managing 30 people and feeling the stresses and strains of life at the thin end of the wedge.

Looking for the skills, not to manage production, numbers, planning etc, but to motivate and manage teams across multiple shifts, and all of the ‘baggage’ that comes with this.

That’s when the second and most important lucky break came - I was ‘sent’ on a ‘Scott White Course’

The first day its fair to say changed my life forever. My spider senses are tingling and the hairs on the back of my neck stand to attention as I recall that event.

I was introduced to ideas that I, if I gave them a go, could help me manage myself even more effectively, and in turn help me understand and manage others even more effectively.

I was blown I away!

Again, fast forward a few years (and numerous ‘scott white injections’) and I am Production Manager (remember with no formal qualifications at this point) earning a small fortune, and driving that business - the one whose door I knocked on all those years before - to record outputs, profits and harmony across the workforce.

If I shared that over a six month period in 1998, the lads and lasses in the factory were earning more in Profit Related Pay per month than their basic monthly wage, that illustrates the magnitude of what happened - and all through
thinking, communicating and acting in new ways.

Fast forward a few years later when I have my own business - Develop-u.

In year 2 - a new start-up - leading a team of 14 employees and 30 associates, we generated £505k in revenue. My wife was pleased as we had a 6 week ‘business trip’ across Australia with the kids.

Seriously, all achieved by my applying simple tools and techniques around how I manage myself to enable me to
effectively work with others, entering ‘their world’ tapping into their motivations, understanding what makes them get up in a morning, and channelling that into focus and direction for my business.

I was fortunate also to get the Uni education along the way, and, if success were measured by the direction we take and how we get there, I know now that from those humble beginnings, to a working successfully in Global role in a
multi-national company working in Europe, USA and South America - it’s not my formal education that has helped my ‘success’, but my ability to successfully manage myself enabling me to enter their ‘world’ tapping into their motivations, understanding what makes them get up in a morning, and channelling that into focus and direction for OUR business.

Let me start with the team, I am ecstatic to report that the team has delivered back to back record months with the highlight in September achieving 23% ahead of budget! (October is looking like another record).

On a personal note I am glad to let you know that I have just given my first presentation since our time together. After a couple of bad experiences this had been identified as a definite black spot for me and an area which I knew I had to invest time in to correct.

I have just delivered back to back presentations over 2 days to an audience of +150. I am absolutely thrilled to let you know that I nailed both!!

The techniques that you taught really stood me in good stead, in particular remembering a good positive experience and the use of the 3 languages.
